Sources: York won't attend Niners' home opener as NFL discipline looms

49ers owner Jed York, who was in Australia but did not attend his team's regular-season opener, also will miss Sunday's home opener in San Francisco against the Dolphins, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

York, who was arrested last month on suspicion of engaging in prostitution, is staying away from the Niners so as not to create a distraction, a source told Schefter.

The NFL is expected to make a decision on any potential discipline for York "soon," a source told Schefter.

The Niners opened their season with a 27-7 upset victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, on Sept. 10.

York pleaded no contest on Aug. 24 to a pair of misdemeanor charges after being arrested in Ohio. According to Columbiana County (Ohio) court records obtained by ESPN, York allegedly responded to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and "arranged to have sexual activity with the female in exchange for $140."

York was arrested upon arriving at the meeting location with the cellphone used to arrange the meeting, according to the records. He originally was charged with misdemeanor counts of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools, but the former charge was amended to misdemeanor disorderly conduct as part of a plea agreement resolving the case.

The NFL said at the time that it was "aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy."
