Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism has commended the country's hotels and resorts that were included in the 2026 Michelin Key list in the Global Michelin Guide, expressing hope that the recognition will further strengthen Indonesia’s tourism sector.

"Let us optimize the momentum to strengthen Indonesia's position as an advanced, competitive, and sustainable world-class tourism destination," Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said in her remarks on Sunday.

Following "rigorous inspection" of over 9,000 properties worldwide, the Global Michelin Guide decided to induct 47 hotels and resorts in various regions in Indonesia into the 2026 Michelin Key list, which was published on September 18, 2026.

Three Indonesian resorts that achieved the "3 Keys" ("An Extraordinary Stay") distinction were NIHI Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara, Amanjiwo in Central Java, and Mandapa Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Bali.

Meanwhile, 11 hotels and resorts achieving "2 Keys" ("An Exceptional Stay"), mostly located in Bali, were Amankila, The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Soori Bali, Capella Ubud, Bvlgari Resort Bali, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Buahan a Banyan Tree Escape, and Raffles Bali.

Hotels with the distinction outside Bali were Four Seasons Hotel and The Langham, both in Jakarta, and The Sanchaya in Riau Islands.

The 33 Indonesian hotels and resorts with "1 Key" ("A Very Special Stay") were The Ridge Bali, The Legian Seminyak, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, The Ungasan Cliffton Resort, Jumeirah Bali, Desa Hay Canggu, and The St. Regis Bali Resort.

The list continued with Como Shambala Estate, Capung Sebali, Amandari, Viceroy Bali, Bisma Eight Ubud, Desa Potato Head Bali, Blue Karma Village, La Reserve 1785 Canggu, Lost Lindeberg, The Purist Villas and Spa, Revivo Wellness Resort Nusa Dua Bali, Nirjhara, Jimbaran Puri: A Belmond Hotel Bali, and Samsara Ubud.

Meanwhile, hotels in East Nusa Tenggara with the distinction include Plataran Komodo Resort and Spa, Cap Koroso, Hotel Tugu Lombok, Innit Lombok, Collection Resort and Spa Labuan Bajo, and Taaktana Luxury.

Hotels in Jakarta with the "1 Key" mark were Raffles Jakarta, The Dharmawangsa Jakarta, The St. Regis Jakarta, Park Hyatt Jakarta, and The Orient Jakarta: a Royal Hideaway Hotel.

Hotel Le Temple Borobudur in Central Java and Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta were also among hotels with "1 Key" distinction.

The Tourism Ministry further commended Indonesian hotels included in "The 50 Best Hotels" in 2026, namely Desa Potato Head Bali in 21st place, NIHI Sumba in 35th place, and Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Bali, which ranked 61st in the extended list.

The 2026 list showed that Indonesia had the second-highest number of hotels receiving the distinction, behind Thailand, the ministry said. It also noted that 33 Indonesian hotels and resorts were included in the 2025 Michelin Key list.
