Air France just made getting between Cape Town and Paris easier again

Air France is restoring its direct seasonal service between Cape Town and Paris from 22 September 2026.

This gives South Africans in Europe, and travellers heading the other way, a genuine non-stop link between the two cities again.

The route runs from 22 September 2026 through 27 March 2027, starting with three flights a week before increasing to five weekly services from 1 November.

HOW THE SCHEDULE ACTUALLY WORKS

From 22 September to 31 October, flights operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Departures leave Cape Town at 00:15, arriving in Paris at 12:15 the same day.

Because it’s an overnight departure, travellers should plan to arrive at Cape Town International Airport the evening before their flight.

From 1 November, the schedule steps up to five weekly flights, running Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Timing changes too: departures leave Cape Town at 08:30, arriving in Paris at 19:20.

The entire route is operated using Air France’s Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft.

For South Africans based in Europe, this route offers something genuinely useful beyond convenience. 

Paris functions as a major connecting hub, meaning a direct Cape Town-Paris flight plugs straight into a dense network of onward European connections through Air France’s Charles de Gaulle base.

Wilson Tauro, Air France-KLM’s Country Manager for Southern Africa, said increasing to five weekly flights would give travellers “even greater flexibility when planning their European travels.”

This return also fits into a broader pattern of growing airline interest in Cape Town specifically. 

Emirates has added a third daily Dubai-Cape Town flight this year. 

LATAM has launched a new direct route between São Paulo and Cape Town.

Both point to genuinely rising international demand for the city.

I always think seasonal routes like this one are worth booking early.

Once demand catches up with the schedule, fares tend to climb quickly.
