PlayStation Officially Unveils Brand-New Hardware And Redesigned Controller

Knock on wood, but so far, I haven't had any PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers break. That wasn't the case for the PlayStation 3 or the PlayStation 4, at least in my experience, so things are still looking up for my small collection of unique PS5 controllers. There are a ton of cool pieces of hardware on PS5 so far, including a cute rendition of Astro Bot, a gold 007 First Light James Bond controller, and plenty more.

Now, thanks to an official announcement from Sony, we have a ton of details on the next PlayStation hardware debut, including when it's coming, which is just around the corner.

In case you haven't heard, the pop star "Lisa," who is also a member of the group Blackpink, has been a rising star in recent years in multiple arenas, including music, acting, and more. Now, she can add a PlayStation controller collaboration to that list.

Sony has officially unveiled that a Lisa-themed DualSense is coming, which focuses on her eyes as part of the design. When the controller arrives on October 30, it'll go for $84.99. You can also pre-order starting October 2 at 10AM local time. Sony will provide first-party pre-orders through their online storefront (PlayStation Direct), but some themed controllers do sell out.

Here's pop star Lisa's full statement on the collaboration: "Gaming is something I do whenever I have time to relax, so getting to create this collection with PlayStation was very exciting. I had a lot of fun adding in little details that I knew my fans would notice, and I wanted the fans to have something they can connect with. I’ve always loved expressing myself through music and fashion, so this collaboration gave me a new way to be creative and show a different side of myself. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do."

The second part of this collab includes merchandise, which will be going live on the official Amazon Lisa store on October 23. Then you can grab shirts, sweatshirts, hats, keychains, bags, and more based on the DualSense "eyes" design.

If you're a PlayStation 5 fan and collect controllers, this could be an opportunity to get another one. For everyone else, it's coming soon, though at the high price DualSense controllers typically command. For reference, the last major controller collabs, 007 First Light and Wolverine (two varieties for the latter, chrome and yellow), also went for $84.99.
