KUCHING, Oct 31 — AirBorneo today opened ticket sales for its new direct service between Kuching and Jakarta, with all-in one-way fares starting from RM399 in Economy Class and RM888 in Business Class.

The route to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will operate three times weekly, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, with the inaugural flight scheduled for November 13.

Flight MY 396 departs Kuching at 3.10pm, while the return flight, MY 397, leaves Jakarta at 4.55pm local time.

“Our direct Kuching to Jakarta service marks an important milestone as we grow AirBorneo’s regional network across key Asean gateways,” AirBorneo chief executive officer Megat Ardian Aminuddin said in a statement.

“A direct link to Indonesia’s commercial capital makes it easier for business leaders, investors and official delegations to travel between our two markets. It also offers patients and families a more comfortable journey to specialist care in Sarawak,” he said.

Megat Ardian added that the route would serve leisure travellers in both directions.

“Indonesian visitors can discover Borneo’s rainforests, culture and festivals, while travellers from Borneo can enjoy all that Jakarta has to offer. We look forward to welcoming them on board with full-service comfort and a taste that’s uniquely Sarawak,” he said.

The state-owned airline also announced its jet network schedule for the Northern Winter 2026/27 season, which runs from October 25 to March 27 next year.

To support the introduction of the Jakarta service, AirBorneo has been operating its Kuching-Singapore service four times weekly since October 23, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Under the winter schedule, flight MY 0385 departs Kuching at 7.35pm and the return flight, MY 0386, leaves Changi Airport at 10pm.

Passengers holding bookings on affected Singapore services have been contacted directly and offered rebooking options, the airline said.

The twice-daily Kuching-Kuala Lumpur service continues as scheduled, with the afternoon flight MY 5004 now departing Kuala Lumpur at 3.40pm.

AirBorneo said its flights are sold exclusively through verified direct channels to ensure fare transparency, protect consumers against unauthorised third-party markups and provide dedicated customer support.

Established in January 2026 following the transition from MASWings, AirBorneo has expanded beyond Rural Air Services with jet operations, starting with its Kuching-Kuala Lumpur trunk route and growing to include Singapore and Jakarta.
