REMBAU: A foreign motorcyclist was killed after he hit a cow crossing the road along Jalan Chengkau–Pilin–Lubok Cina near Kampung Panchang last night.

Rembau police chief Superintendent Ngiam Ooi Ming said the incident occurred around 7.30pm and involved a man riding a Modenas Kriss 110 motorcycle.

"Preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding alone from Lubok Cina towards Rembau town.

"Upon reaching the scene, he is believed to have hit a cow crossing the road. It was raining at the time," he said in a statement.

He said the impact threw the victim onto the road, leaving him injured. He died at the scene.

"The victim's death was confirmed by medical personnel from Rembau Hospital who went to the scene. His body was taken to the hospital for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, and investigations are ongoing," he said.

Ngiam urged anyone with information about the incident to assist investigations by contacting the Rembau Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department.

He also advised all road users to exercise caution, particularly when driving or riding at night and in rainy conditions.

"Road users should also remain alert to the possibility of livestock wandering onto or crossing roads, especially in rural areas, to prevent fatal accidents," he said.
