Teacher Cillah Fires Back at Critics Questioning Her Influencer Hustle During Maasai Mara Getaway
Kenyan teacher and content creator Priscilla Wanjiku Karanja, popularly known as Teacher Cillah, has hit back at critics questioning her influencer side hustle after giving fans a glimpse of her luxurious holiday in the Maasai Mara.
Cillah shared an Instagram Reel showcasing her stay at what appeared to be a high-end tented camp, complete with a spacious bedroom, stylish furnishings and a separate room fitted with two beds.
But beyond the luxurious accommodation, it was her pointed message to critics questioning how she makes money outside the classroom that caught attention.
“Your main hustle cannot get you here,” she said in the video.
“Those complaining are working until the 24th of December. I have two months of untouched holiday to go.”
Her remarks appeared directed at those questioning how she balances her teaching career with content creation and influencer work.
Cillah has increasingly shared glimpses of her personal life and lifestyle online, attracting attention for her outspoken personality and content documenting her experiences beyond the classroom.
George Ruto’s Like Sparks Attention
Cillah’s holiday post also caught the attention of social media users after George Ruto, President William Ruto’s son, liked the video.
The interaction revived memories of their viral online banter in August, when Cillah jokingly expressed interest in marrying George following his sister Charlene Ruto’s traditional wedding ceremony.
George joined the playful exchange by asking for her Teachers Service Commission (TSC) number.
“Ebu TSC number niconfirm kitu,” he wrote in response to her earlier post.
The exchange gained traction online, with Cillah continuing the joke through videos imagining what a wedding between them might look like.
Their social media banter later spilled into the real world when George visited Westlands Primary School, where Cillah teaches, and interacted with pupils and members of staff.
During the visit, he praised her work as an educator but also clarified that he was already in a relationship.
“First of all, let me set the record straight. Mimi niko na bibi,” he said at the time.
The school visit shifted attention towards Cillah’s work as a teacher while appearing to put the speculation surrounding their playful online exchange to rest.
Cillah Defends Her Side Hustle
Her latest holiday post has once again placed the spotlight on how she combines teaching with content creation.
By showcasing her Maasai Mara getaway and responding directly to critics, Cillah appeared to be making the case that pursuing opportunities outside conventional employment can bring additional benefits.
Her reference to having two months of untouched holiday also highlighted the time she says she has available to enjoy her break from teaching.
George’s like added another talking point to the post, although it does not establish any renewed romantic interest between the two.
