The Netflix limited series “The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey” will premiere on Dec. 10, with the streaming platform also releasing a first look photo of Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen as Patsy and John Bennett Ramsey.

The series explores the unsolved murder of JonBenét, who died Christmas night in 1996. Her body was found in the basement of her family’s house just hours after she was reported missing, sparking public outrage and speculation.

The cast also includes Will Patton, Jeremy Bobb, John Billingsley, Josh Stamberg, Margo Martindale and Tzi Ma.

Richard LaGravenese serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer, with Anne Sewitsky directing and executive producing. The series was co-written by Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach, who also executive produce alongside McCarthy and Sewitsky. David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and David Hutkin executive produce for for 101 Studios.

“The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey” was first reported to be in the works in March 2024 and completed production in January 2025. It was formally greenlit at Paramount+ that same year before moving to Netflix in July.

Netflix previously released “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey” in 2024, timed near the 28th anniversary of Ramsey’s murder. It ultimately became the most-watched series on the streaming platform during the week of Nov. 25, totaling 13.4 million views in those seven days.
