‘Gavin & Stacey’ creators Ruth Jones and James Corden reunite for new comedy

James Corden and Ruth Jones, the creators of Gavin & Stacey, are reuniting for new Apple TV comedy The Choir.

Corden and Jones wrote the beloved BBC romantic comedy and also starred as Smithy and Nessa respectively. Gavin & Stacey originally ran for three seasons between 2007 and 2010 before a pair of Christmas specials wrapped things up.

The farewell episode of Gavin & Stacey broke the record for the most-watched scripted show across broadcasters and streamers since records began in 2002. Jones has also confirmed that the show “will definitely not be coming back”.

Now the duo are reuniting for new comedy drama The Choir.

Corden and Jones will star as siblings Ben and Lisa who haven’t seen each other for several years. Ben has been living abroad while Lisa has stayed in their small English town where “nothing” ever happens, reads the logline for The Choir.

“But when events take a sorry turn, Ben is forced to return to a life he never wanted, a town he never liked and a family from which he’s estranged. Can the unlikely healing of a rift with his big sister come in the form of a struggling local choir, and the ensemble who sing their hearts out each week?”

Two estranged siblings reunite to lead a small town choir.
