Emmerdale finally names Baby Tate as Joe makes big decision

Emmerdale has finally revealed a name for Baby Tate. Ever since his birth, Joe Tate has had a hard time connecting with his son due to his grief for his fiancée Dawn Fletcher.

Despite protests from Kim Tate and Graham Foster, Joe decided to give up Baby Tate for adoption, leading Kim and Graham to secretly take care of the baby until Joe changed his mind.

However, a shocking twist came with the kidnapping of Baby Tate by an unknown hooded person. After it was revealed that Joe was the person behind it, he detailed his feelings of betrayal at Kim and Graham for not following through with the adoption.

This revelation led to a confrontation between Graham and Joe, but for the first time, he showed protective instinct for his baby boy when he heard him cry.

And tonight's episode sees Joe begin to soften towards his son after receiving some advice from a former enemy.

After the kidnapping, Kim and Graham are terrified of letting the baby out of their sight, but when she berated Joe's involvement, Graham acknowledged his grief for Dawn.

The two also decide to keep the revelation from Joe about DS Thea Ramsden being Kim's daughter, but Kim said she had "nothing to say to that boy".

With Joe still nowhere to be found, Graham and Ross Barton head out to find him until he is discovered by the latter sleeping by Dawn's grave.

Joe wanted to be left alone, but Ross thought they should have a chat given how much they've got in common.

The two have had quite a bitter history, particularly when it came to Debbie Dingle. However, Ross opened up to Joe about his grief losing two ex-partners, Rebecca White and Donna Windsor.

He revealed that seeing April Windsor everyday reminded him of Donna, but he'd come to appreciate it as it reminded him that she'd not truly gone.

Joe said he felt he shouldn't be around his son because of his doubts around fatherhood as he described his fear of being a "poisonous father", but Ross assured him that everything will be okay.

Following his heart-to-heart with Ross, Joe apologises to Graham and Kim, though the latter doesn't accept his apology.

But this change of heart has stuck with Joe as he tells stories about Dawn to their son, who he decided to name William Tate. Will parenting William help Joe with his grief for Dawn?
