Vaishnavi Adkar, Sahaja Yamalapalli, Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi and USA’s Katherine Hui have been awarded main-draw wild cards for the upcoming Chennai Open.

The WTA 250 event will be held from November 2 to 8 at the SDAT Stadium in Nungambakkam.

Vaishnavi (World No. 365) and Sahaja (World No. 378) are currently India’s top two female tennis players while the 17-year-old Maaya (World No. 726) is the nation’s No. 1 junior. All three players had featured in the last year’s tournament where only Sahaja progressed to the second round.

Recently, Maaya won her maiden senior professional title at the W35 ITF event in Lagos, Portugal where she also clinched the doubles crown. Vaishnavi, 21, bagged her second career title earlier this season in Kalaburagi and also finished as runner-up in Bengaluru (W100) and Monastir (W35). The 25-year-old Sahaja has claimed four titles on the ITF circuit in her career.
