Businessman, pregnant wife killed in Maguindanao Sur LPG store fire

COTABATO CITY – A couple died after a fire razed a merchandise store selling Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanks in the public market of Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur on Wednesday night.
Fire Inspector Narisa Bansil, Shariff Aguak Fire Marshal, said the fire broke out at about 11:30 p.m. from an unknown origin. It quickly spread to market stalls, including the BhasNhor Dry Goods, which stores and sells LPG.
Bansil said the victims were asleep inside their store, which also serves as their home, when the fire broke out.

Civilians who tried to rescue the couple backed off for fear the LPG cylinders might explode.
It was declared fire out at about 1 a.m.
Fire Chief Inspector Ronald Ali Ampang, Maguindanao del Sur provincial fire marshal, identified the couple as businessman Bacso Abdulgani and his pregnant wife Noraisa.
The fire officer said at least 10 stalls inside the town public market were razed to the ground.
The investigation into the cause of the conflagration and the damage to properties is still ongoing./coa
