"Oldest trick in the book": Celeb Traitors' Rob Beckett responds to James Acaster's role in the game

Celebrity Traitors' Rob Beckett has given his thoughts on James Acaster's Traitor role following his exit. Beckett was the latest celeb to be killed off after he was chosen by Traitors Acaster, Maya Jama and Hannah Fry to be murdered.

In last Friday's episode, Beckett, alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Ross Kemp and Romesh Ranganathan, were brought to participate in a deadly game of hide-and-seek, and when he was selected, he learnt the identities of the Traitors, with Acaster in particular leaving him shocked.

"I knew it was Hannah, but James…" he said. "I gave James the benefit of the doubt because he desperately wanted to be a Faithful, but then that's the oldest trick in the book, saying that, but then he had been really quiet recently, and on reflection, he'd avoided me a lot which makes sense, because I know him quite well."

He added: "And then Maya Jama, I mean, Maya Jama does not change her personality, whatever's happening. So she's going to be a great Traitor, I think she could win it."

As for how it felt to leave the show, Beckett said he was "sad" because he'd liked to have stayed around a bit longer, but he acknowledged his accomplishments in his limited time there.

"I'm a bit sad because I would have liked to have gone further, but a killing in plain sight, I've managed to get a Traitor, I've got a couple of Faithful wrong at the banishments, I’ve done some Missions, done the breakfast - I feel like I've done almost all of it," he said.

"I was really missing the kids, so I'm happy to go - the kids wanted me to do it, and I've done five episodes and been murdered. So that's enough, let Daddy have a day off!"

Fans were left devastated by Rob's exit and they weren't the only ones, as Ranganathan also appeared to be gutted by his best friend's exit, even kissing his portrait as he helped Claudia Winkleman take it off the wall.

While suspicions are still in the air as to who is a Faithful and who is a Traitor, for Beckett, he knew instantly that Ranganathan was a Faithful.

"Romesh looks hard to read, but I know him like a brother, and I knew, as soon as I looked him in the eye, that he was a Faithful, and he knew I was a Faithful." he said.

Celebrity Traitors is available to watch on BBC One and iPlayer.
