The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Sunday urged eligible voters to register early, as voter registration will begin on Tuesday, November 10, and run until June 30, 2027.

Comelec Chairperson George Garcia urged the public to take advantage of the long voter registration period rather than wait do it at the last minute.

“Kaya nating ine-engganyo ang ating mga kababayan na magpa-rehistro nang mas maaga kaysa 'yung late na o kung isang taon na naman sila magpaparehistro,” Garcia told Super Radyo dzBB.

(That’s why we urged our countrymen to register early instead of doing it last minute or next year.)

Garcia explained that voter registration for the 2028 national and local elections was opened earlier because of the postponement of the November 2, 2026 Barangay and Sangguiniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).

The Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the law fixing the term of office of Barangay and SK officials from four to five years and scheduling the BSKE for November 2028.
