46K individuals affected by Mindanao earthquake receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A total of 46,000 individuals affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao in June received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a "24 Oras" report, Wednesday, the foundation distributed food packs, hygiene kits, and diapers. There were also beddings, houseware, rechargeable fans, and clothes from Nitori Philippines.

Ruby Jane Derong, a resident of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, shared that she had a scar from the quake. She also has trauma and fear after a house fell on her while protecting her grandchild.

"The earthquake was so strong we could no longer remain standing. I rolled my grandchild and child and covered them with my body," she said in Filipino.

Their livelihoods are also affected as her husband rarely finds work as a carpenter. Most residents still live in a tent.

"With food, we try to eat small portions so that my child won't go hungry," she said.

"Thank you so much to GMA Kapuso Foundation because even though we live far, you came here. Thank you very much," Ruby Jane said.
