Translate

Former England international Andros Townsend was injured after a pitch roller struck and ran over his leg while he was warming up during half-time in a Thai League 1 match on Saturday night.

Townsend, who plays for PT Prachuap FC, was warming up on the pitch during the interval of his side’s away match against Pattani FC at Tinsulanon Stadium on 19 September when the incident occurred.

The pitch roller, which was operating on the field, collided with Townsend and ran over his leg, causing an injury around his hip and a wound on his thigh.

The incident shocked people at the stadium, but Townsend was later able to return to the pitch towards the end of the match.

PT Prachuap went on to beat Pattani 3-0, with goals from Sapphakon Kanyaroet, Taoua Ferreira and Edgar Méndez.

Townsend, 35, has 13 senior England caps and made 291 Premier League appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Everton, scoring 26 goals and providing 32 assists.

Born on 16 July 1991, Townsend plays as a right winger for Thai League 1 side PT Prachuap.
