SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur—Months after his untimely demise, outpourings of grief, love, and demands for justice continue to trail the late Agusan del Sur basketball standout Rene “Bobet” Baterbonia, as floral tributes and prayers flooded his gravesite in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur on All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day (Undas).

Supporters, friends, and fans from across the country and overseas have been sending elaborate flower standees to his resting place at the Talacogon New Cemetery in Barangay Labnig since October 31.

Jenelyn Guno, owner of San Francisco Flower Shop Online, said orders have not slowed down and are expected to continue arriving until November 8, when a newly constructed two-story mausoleum for the Palarong Pambansa Most Valuable Player is scheduled to be unveiled.

Many of the ribbon banners attached to the arrangements bore emotional tributes and persistent calls for justice.

“Mula noong nawala ka, andito kami nagluluksa pa rin sa iyong pagkawala. Mahal na mahal ka namin (Ever since you left, we have remained here mourning your loss. We love you so much),” one message read.

Arranged flower bundles and standees range from P350 upward, with delivery fees set at P150 for consolidated shipments and P600 for special dispatches straight to the Talacogon memorial grounds.

Guno noted that their shop was also tapped to provide floral arrangements for an upcoming biographical film depicting Baterbonia’s life and athletic career.

At the cemetery grounds, the late athlete’s mother, Rovelyn, personally oversaw preparations at the gravesite, which was adorned with towering floral wreaths, framed portraits, and memorabilia commemorating his standout games on the hardcourt.

His family, friends and supporters celebrated a memorial Mass at 3 p.m. on Sunday. /gsg
