Hardik Pandya's Potential Move Could Trigger Fresh PBKS-LSG Trade Twist Ahead Of IPL Retention Deadline: Report

Translate

Punjab Kings (PBKS) could turn their attention to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mohsin Khan if Arshdeep Singh's potential trade to Mumbai Indians (MI) goes through, according to a report. PBKS are reportedly set to acquire Hardik Pandya from MI in exchange for Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod ahead of the IPL retention deadline. According to a report in Sportstar, PBKS could approach LSG for left-arm pacer Mohsin as a like-for-like replacement should the proposed Hardik-Arshdeep deal receive the green light.

The report added that the PBKS management are keen admirers of Mohsin despite his injury concerns. LSG are likely to get Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who was bought by PBKS for Rs 11 crore, in return.

"Arshdeep's likely departure could also trigger another deal for PBKS. The franchise may approach Lucknow Super Giants for a swap involving left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan and Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. Hardik's arrival is expected to reduce Stoinis's role, while Mohsin, fitness permitting, is highly rated by the Punjab think-tank," the report said.

However, there is confirmation on the same, ahead of the November 17 retention deadline.

Stoinis was one of Lucknow Super Giants' three draft picks ahead of the franchise's IPL debut in 2022, alongside KL Rahul and Ravi Bishnoi. He represented LSG from 2022 to 2024 before being released ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, where Punjab Kings signed him for Rs 11 crore.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh was bought back by Punjab Kings at the IPL 2025 auction following a bidding war with SunRisers Hyderabad. PBKS exercised their Right to Match (RTM) card for Arshdeep after SRH increased the winning bid from Rs 15.75 crore to Rs 18 crore.

LSG have already been involved in one high-profile trade, having acquired spinner Kuldeep Yadav from Delhi Capitals (DC) in exchange for Rishabh Pant.

While Kuldeep joined LSG on a contract worth Rs 13.25 crore, Pant took a significant pay cut, dropping from Rs 27 crore to Rs 15 crore, to seal a return to DC.
