At least 250 pet owners have filed complaints against Ahjay Paws Aftercare Pet Crematorium before the Bacoor City Police Station in connection with alleged irregularities in its handling of deceased pets, authorities said.
Bacoor City Police Station chief PLTCOL Alexie Desamito reported that the number of complainants who formally approached the police has reached 250, according to a social media post by Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla.
In the initial phase of the investigation, Revilla said complainants turned over 20 containers of ashes from their pets to authorities. These are now undergoing forensic examination by the Philippine National Police Forensic Group.
Separately, authorities recovered 29 dog carcasses during an operation in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Nine of the carcasses have so far been positively identified by their respective pet owners, while verification and identification of the remaining carcasses are ongoing.
The Bacoor City government thanked the local police and National Bureau of Investigation Director Melvin Alvarez Matibag for assisting in the investigation and efforts to hold those responsible accountable.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details as the investigation continues. —LDF, GMA News
