Tabu is all set to wrap up the year on a high note. She will be seen as the antagonist in the Telugu film King 100. The film also marks her reunion with superstar Nagarjuna after 28 years. The makers released Tabu’s first look from the film today on her birthday.

Tabu makes a commanding presence in the first look of King 100. Releasing her first look, the makers described her as having “an unmatched screen presence and an intensity that commands every frame”. Tabu plays Mahanthi Jhansi Rani, a character who believes that there are only two types of people in the world. One is the kind that believes in hard work, and the other believes in luck. Mahanthi loathes people who believe in luck. She seemingly belongs to a royal family that commands political power.

While we await Tabu unleashing her ruthless side, we take a look at her negative roles over the last 10 years.

Tabu’s Negative Roles In The Past Decade

Tabu has played some of the most iconic negative characters or morally corrupt roles in the past decade. In Andhadhun, she delivered arguably her most memorable villainous performance in recent years. She played Simi, a calculating murderer. In Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, she played the dual roles of Anjulika and Manjulika. This gave her a chance to play sinister characters. In the Drishyam franchise, the actress plays Meera Deshmukh. While she is not a conventional villain, she is the antagonist in Vijay Salgaonkar and his family’s life. As for Kuttey, she plays Pammi, a morally compromised police officer, making this a more grey-shaded performance.

Can King 100 Give Tabu Another Iconic Villainous Role At The Box Office?

King 100 has limited buzz currently. However, the earlier title announcement of the film delivered a bold, powerful statement about the scale, style, and cinematic ambition of the makers. The glimpse introduces Nagarjuna Akkineni in a stylish, larger-than-life avatar, offering audiences their first look at his character and the film’s world. With its stylish visuals, intriguing character introduction, powerful dialogue, high-energy music, and larger-than-life presentation, King 100 is expected to attract audience attention.

With King 100 being Nagarjuna’s 100th film, the makers are expected to go all out with its promotions, making it a massy affair for fans of the superstar. However, the film will be clashing with Shah Rukh Khan’s next film, which has a similar title – King. The films will also be facing competition from Avengers: Doomsday. While the end-of-year holiday season is a great time for movies, the crowded release weekend can make it tough for all the releases to outshine each other.

Take A Look At Nagarjuna’s Post-COVID Grossers

  1. Coolie – 285.01 crore
  2. Kuberaa – 90.89 crore
  3. Bangarraju – 49.61 crore
  4. Naa Saami Ranga – 30.34 crore
  5. The Ghost – 8 crore
