'Just another calm': Rahul Gandhi shares 'rough sea' message

NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Sunday shared a post about swimming in rough seas, saying difficult conditions can offer a lesson in staying calm.“I love swimming in the sea when it's rough. It teaches you that rough is just another kind of calm,” Gandhi posted on X.

Gandhi did not directly mention the SIR controversy or the Election Commission in the post. However, it came days after he intensified his criticism of the poll panel over the ongoing row surrounding the revision of electoral rolls.

Gandhi's SIR attack

Earlier, Gandhi alleged that India's 2024 Lok Sabha and assembly elections were “rigged” and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He also alleged a link between what he called “vote chori”, “kanoon chori” and “sanstha chori”.

His remarks followed reports that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections on multiple occasions over decisions and orders related to the SIR exercise.The Election Commission has maintained that Form 6 itself was not changed, saying the SIR-related requirement was introduced separately as an additional declaration, Annexure D. The poll panel has also said the relevant SIR orders were approved unanimously by the three commissioners.
