Anfield hosts the blockbuster fixture of the Premier League weekend as Liverpool face leaders Manchester City

Manchester City travel to Liverpool today in the headline fixture of the Premier League’s return following an extended three-week international break. City are expected to receive a hostile atmosphere this afternoon at Anfield in what is their first match since an independent commission found them guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the top-flight’s financial rules over a nine-season period between 2009/10 and 2018/19. City deny any wrongdoing and have launched an appeal, with serious sanctions likely if that fails.
Liverpool are among the clubs said to have reserved their right to seek compensation, having finished as runners-up to City once during the period in question and also lost to them in a cup final. Reds fans are unlikely to be shy in expressing their anger during what promises to be a highly-charged showdown on Merseyside, though their attempts to inflict a first defeat on City this season are weakened by injuries to Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo.
There have also been late questions over Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, while Erling Haaland is fit to start for City after a knock. Follow Liverpool vs Man City live below!

Score prediction
Of course, it's difficult to not be laser-focused on matters off the pitch as a fired up Anfield will have an impact on the Manchester City players.
On the pitch though, City have been perfect so far while Liverpool are yet to win at home in the Premier League.
It could very well come down to who deals best with the emotions, but we think Man City having Erling Haaland fit and Alexander Isak's absence for Liverpool will prove decisive.
Man City to win, 2-1.
Man City team news: Haaland fit
Erling Haaland emerged as a major injury scare for Manchester City after limping off in Norway's Nations League defeat to Portugal last weekend.
However, Enzo Maresca revealed the in-form striker has enjoyed a period of rest and is "ready" for this afternoon's showdown.
Despite pulling out of the Ghana squad during the international break, Antoine Semenyo is also expected to be available but Nico O'Reilly is doubtful.
Phil Foden, red carded in the Manchester derby last month, completes his three-match suspension today.

Liverpool team news: No Isak or Gakpo
Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo are both absent for Liverpool after returning from international duty with knocks.
Neither forward is expected to be out for the long-term, but they will not be available for selection this afternoon which means Andoni Iraola's options in attack are limited.
Federico Chiesa could be included in a matchday squad for the first time this season after recovering from a back injury, but will almost certainly not be considered for a start here.
Jeremy Jacquet, meanwhile, is fit despite a hamstring strain that forced him to miss France's final Nations League fixture.
