Jakarta (ANTARA) - Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir has reaffirmed his commitment to continuing Indonesia’s foreign policy mandate in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives, as previously carried out by his predecessor, Sugiono.

Arrmanatha made the statement to reporters at the Foreign Ministry in Jakarta on Thursday after attending his inauguration at the State Palace.

“Our mandate is based on the Constitution, and this has been carried out very well by Mr. Sugiono. Of course, we will continue what Mr. Sugiono has done very well, and we will also follow the directives of the President because, ultimately, the foreign policy mandate rests with the President,” he said.

The minister said the Foreign Ministry had a clear constitutional mandate to implement Indonesia's foreign policy.

He said consistency in foreign policy from year to year was one of Indonesia's characteristics in conducting international relations.

"A country that has a stable foreign policy, one that remains stable from year to year, is a good country, and that is Indonesia," he said.

Furthermore, Arrmanatha said Indonesia would continue to play an active role in efforts to create a safer and more stable world, including through its candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2029-2030 term.

He said the candidacy also reflected Indonesia's confidence in the importance of multilateralism. Indonesia would use the opportunity to push for reforms to the multilateral system.

Arrmanatha, who previously served as Deputy Foreign Minister, was officially sworn in as foreign minister by President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday, replacing Sugiono, at a ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta.

He was appointed under Presidential Decree No. 105/P of 2026 on the Dismissal and Appointment of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the 2024-2029 Red and White Cabinet, issued by President Prabowo Subianto on September 30, 2026.
