Boy dies in hospital days after e-scooter crash
A teenage boy has died in hospital days after sustaining critical injuries in an e-scooter crash.
Emergency services were called to Macrossan Street at Childers, 400 kilometres north of Brisbane, at about 6pm on Wednesday after a single-vehicle crash involving an e-scooter.
The 13-year-old sustained serious head injuries and was flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
He died in hospital on Saturday.
Speaking on Thursday, Bundaberg Highway Patrol officer in charge Sergeant Gordon Hard said the events leading up to the crash were not clear.
"To the best of my knowledge he was wearing a helmet," he said.
"Paramedics performed CPR before that child was flown to Brisbane."
Police say investigations are ongoing.
It is the second fatal e-scooter incident in the region.
A 39-year-old Hervey Bay man died in a crash involving his e-scooter and an electric skateboard in July.
