Game of Thrones and Bank of Dave favourites star in first look for Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker's comedic new crime thriller

Game of Thrones star Lena Headey and MobLand's Paddy Considine are among the cast who have been revealed in the first look at the latest project by Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker.

Blackmere is "an absurd comedy disguised as an incredibly serious crime thriller," according to the official description.

Considine stars as Detective John Blackmere, who leaves the rain-soaked city of Bleakford for London to avenge his partner's death and catch a ritualistic serial killer before they run out of victims. The description teases that Blackmere will "contain blood and frowning."

The Netflix series has been written by Brooker, along with Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Emer Kenny, Daniel Maier and Joel Morris, and additional material by Victoria Asare Archer. TV fans will recognise Kenny as Zsa Zsa Carter in EastEnders, and she is also known for writing the screenplay for crime drama series Karen Pirie.

Alongside Considine and Headey, the cast also includes Georgina Campbell (Barbarian) and Rory Kinnear (Bank of Dave).

Writer and producer Charlie Brooker is best known for the Black Mirror anthology series that began in 2011. Considine and Headey have yet to star in a Black Mirror episode, but Kinnear appeared in the first ever installment, entitled National Anthem, while Campbell played a central role in season 4's Hang the DJ.

Just one year after Brooker released the first series of Black Mirror, he co-created and co-wrote the comedy series A Touch of Cloth, a parody of police procedural dramas, starring John Hannah and Suranne Jones, which sounds notably similar to the newly announced show.

In a statement when Blackmere was in production last year, Brooker said: "I’m beyond thrilled to be saying these words for the press release. I’ve dreamt of providing a quote ever since I was a young foetus, and now here I am doing it."

"I’d pinch myself, but like all of us, I’m terrified that if I do that, I might wake up and discover 2025 has all been a magical dream. Please watch my show. I am begging you."

Blackmere will launch on Netflix in early 2027, and fans remain hopeful that another season of Black Mirror may also be on the cards.

The eighth season of the multi-award-winning sci-fi drama began production in summer 2026 in the UK.

Blackmere will be coming to Netflix in early 2027.
