AMC NASCAR Drama Series ‘Thunder Road’ Rounds Out Cast

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Josh Macqueen (Motorheads), Aspen Kennedy (Queen Sugar), Haley Dillon (Blue Ridge) and Mackenzie Porter (9-1-1: Nashville) round out the cast of AMC‘s NASCAR drama series Thunder Road. The series will debut on AMC and AMC+ in 2027.

From John Fusco, Thunder Road is the multi-generational saga of the fictional Whitlock family, whose legacy in stock car racing is as deep as the family’s ties to the Southern hill country roots that shaped them.

In Thunder Road, Dennis Quaid stars as racing legend Duane Whitlock, aka The Wrecking Ball, a towering figure who built a racing empire from a legacy of moonshine runs and dirt tracks and refuses to let it die. With ruthless competitors who will stop at nothing to dethrone and destroy them, the Whitlocks are a blue-collar dynasty at the edge of extinction – and the old king is fighting to hold onto the crown.

The previously announced series regulars also include Chase Stokes, Michael Rooker, Matt Barr, Maggie Grace and West Duchovny. Michael Rooker and Devon Allman will appear in recurring roles.

Macqueen will guest star as Trey Whitlock, the youngest son of NASCAR legend Duane Whitlock. Trey has prodigious racing skills and a media-ready smile that have made him the most touted up-and-comer in motorsport. With his long-awaited debut in the Cup Series, Trey must shoulder not only the world’s expectations but the full weight of keeping his family’s storied race team afloat.

Kennedy will heavily recur as Bobby “Breeze” Roberts, who is every sponsor’s dream: easygoing, personable, and as dependable off the track as he is on it. His consistent performance has made him an asset to Whitlock Racing Team, but beneath his cool exterior burns an ambition to escape the middle of the pack and start chasing checkered flags.

Dillon will guest star as Dakota Voss, who has a preternatural gift for turning data into wins, and the confidence to match. The youngest Lead Race Engineer in NASCAR, she’s leveraged her aerospace expertise to take Farley Performance from the history books to the technological cutting edge.

Porter will heavily recur as Bonnie Taylor-Whitlock, an aspiring country singer convinced that she belongs onstage, even if it’s just the stage in her husband Calvin’s taproom. She may be a little drunk on her own spotlight, but she’s also savvier than she lets on, helping Calvin scheme his way to entrepreneurial success.

Fusco is set to executive produce alongside showrunner Taylor Elmore, Cliff Roberts with Syndicate Entertainment, Mark L. Smith, and NASCAR Studio’s Tim Clark and John Dahl. Gladys Cheng serves as producer. The show is produced in association with NASCAR.

Macqueen recently appeared in the Amazon/MGM series Motorheads, from showrunner John Norris. He can also be seen playing one of the leads in Netflix’s series Surviving Summer. Macqueen recently wrapped work on the upcoming Netflix series The Sticks and the indie feature U.A.P. He is repped by Anonymous Content, Innovative Artists and GGSSC.

Kennedy landed his first network television role on OWN’s Queen Sugar, which he followed up with a leading film role in Sony Pictures’ The Forge. Kennedy recently recurred on CBS’ hit series Fire Country. Up next, he is set to star in the upcoming western, Florida Wild. Kennedy is represented by CGEM Talent, J. Pervis Talent Agency, Stewart Talent, and Meyer & Downs.

Dillon is an actress known for her role as Dixie in the television series Blue Ridge, starring Johnathon Schaech. Her other credits include the feature film Bad Counselors and an appearance in Luke Combs’ music video for “The Kind of Love We Make.” She is repped by The Anthem Collective.

Porter recurs on Ryan Murphy’s show 9-1-1: Nashville, and prior to that, on Prime Video’s The Runarounds. She also starred as the lead in the hit Netflix series Travelers and had a series regular role in AMC’s Hell on Wheels. She is repped by Link Entertainment and Red Management.
