Iran's embassy in India on Tuesday took a dig at the United Nations over its perceived failure to take decisive action in real-world conflicts, days after Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi accused the global body of showing “indifference” to alleged violations of the UN Charter by the US and Israel.Click here for live updates on US-Iran warThe Iranian embassy shared a meme featuring two panels—one showing Marvel character Doctor Strange and the other depicting Thakur, played by Sanjeev Kumar in the 1975 Bollywood classic "Sholay."“UN according to school books,” read the caption on the first panel, which showed the multi-armed Dr Strange, a character known for his magical superpowers. The meme suggested that the UN is portrayed in textbooks as a powerful organisation capable of taking action on global issues.

The second panel featured Thakur Baldev Singh, whose hands were amputated by the villain Gabbar Singh, played by Amjad Khan. Incidentally, Trump, too, has repeatedly criticised the UN since returning to office in January last year, accusing the organisation of being unable to resolve major global conflicts.Meanwhile, Araghchi met outgoing UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York on the final day of his visit to attend the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported.During the meeting, Araghchi briefed Guterres on the latest developments in the Middle East and said Iran, “as a founding member of the United Nations,” expected the organisation and its member states to respond to what Tehran described as violations of international law and “blatant breaches” of the UN Charter by a permanent member of the Security Council, referring to the US.He also called for an "explicit" condemnation of what Iran described as US interventionist measures and “illegal threats” against the Islamic Republic.
