Indonesia's toy exports rise to US$351.8 million in H1 2026: Ministry

Indonesia's current export markets include the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Australia, and the Czech Republic.
Jakarta (ANTARA) -
The Industry Ministry noted that Indonesia’s toy industry is becoming increasingly competitive, with exports reaching US$351.8 million in January–June 2026, up from US$297.7 million in the same period a year earlier.
The ministry's Director General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries, Reni Yanita, said the industry's competitiveness is being strengthened through improvements in product quality and standardization, industrial capacity development, and expanded market access.
"The main challenge facing the national industry today is not merely production capacity, but ensuring that domestically manufactured products are absorbed by the domestic market and can capitalize on opportunities in the global supply chain," she said in a statement on Monday.
Yanita noted that the toy industry has significant potential as a labor-intensive sector and a producer of value-added products.
Therefore, strengthening the domestic market and improving competitiveness are essential to increase demand for Indonesian-made toys at home while expanding their penetration into international markets.
"We need to strengthen the domestic market by implementing standardization, increasing the use of domestic products, and strengthening competitiveness to make Indonesian-made toys more competitive in the national market and expand their presence internationally," she continued.
Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) for 2024 and the National Industrial Information System (SIINas) for 2025 recorded 256 toy industry business units employing a total of 15,663 workers. In addition, there are 10 toy industry SME centers across Central Java, East Java, and West Java.
From a trade perspective, Indonesia's toy industry has recorded a net export surplus over the past five years. In 2025, exports increased by 8.2 percent from 2024, reaching US$664.6 million.
"Indonesia's current export markets include the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Australia, and the Czech Republic. This achievement also presents significant opportunities for Indonesia to strengthen its presence and contribution to the global market," Yanita said.
The ministry is also encouraging greater use of domestic products. As of 2026, 65 toy industry players had obtained Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification.
"This indicates that the national toy industry has begun developing its capacity to meet domestic content requirements, which needs to be further expanded to support greater participation of local products in government procurement," she noted.
Furthermore, Yanita said the ministry has provided guidance and facilities for various industry players, particularly SMEs, including assistance with SNI certification, ISO 9001:2015 certification, Industry 4.0 implementation, and expanded market access.
