Bafana Bafana winger scores two goals on debut in Europe

The Bafana Bafana winger delivered a sensational full debut for F.C. Copenhagen. Maseko scored twice in a dominant 5-0 victory over Odense Boldklub on Sunday.

The 22-year-old was handed his first start since completing his €1.5 million move from Mamelodi Sundowns last month. He immediately showed why F.C. Copenhagen invested in him.

Maseko needed just five minutes to announce himself. The South African received the ball on the right before cutting inside.

He then produced a stunning finish from around 25 yards. His curling effort flew into the far corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

It was the perfect way to mark his first start. Asger Sørensen later doubled F.C. Copenhagen’s advantage before the visitors continued to dominate after the break.

Maseko remained a constant threat. In the 76th minute, the former Mamelodi Sundowns winger struck again.

A loose ball dropped inside the box. Maseko reacted quickest before firing a clinical effort from close range into the net.

His afternoon could have been even better. The Bafana Bafana attacker appeared to have completed his hat-trick moments later but the goal was ruled out by the referee.

F.C. COPENHAGEN GO TOP

Despite missing out on a third goal, Maseko had already done enough. His brace helped F.C. Copenhagen secure a convincing 5-0 win.

The result also strengthened their position at the summit of the Danish Superliga, where they now hold a four-point advantage.

Maseko had previously made cameo appearances in domestic action and the UEFA Conference League. But this was different.

This was his first start. And he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

The performance will also provide a major confidence boost ahead of the upcoming Bafana Bafana camp.

With Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers approaching later this month, South African supporters will now be watching closely to see whether Maseko can carry this explosive form into international duty.
