Fandango Moves Into Originals With ‘Bad Girls Club’ Reunion

Translate

Fandango, the online ticket seller that has now also become a free, ad-supported streamer, is moving into original programming for the first time and has set its first project, a reunion featuring the stars of the Oxygen reality series.

The move makes sense for Versant Media, which owns Fandango as well as the Oxygen brand, which has pivoted to true-crime in recent years.

Bad Girls Club: Unfinished Business is a two-part reunion special hosted by Tanisha Thomas, who was one of the stars of season two of the show, which launched 2006.

The special will reunite the bad girls of season seven including Stasi Townsend, Shelly Hickman, Judi Jackson, Tiara Hodge, Angie Castillo, and Priscilla Mennella.

Season 7 was chosen because it is the most-watched season of the show on the Fandango platform.

Thomas brings the women back together to revisit some of the franchise’s most iconic fights and confrontations. Each episode brings the women face-to-face to share their sides of the story and unpack what really happened. The group will confront old tensions and determine if these chapters can finally be closed, or if some rivalries are simply too deep to leave in the past.

The special is produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, which produced the original series, which ran for 17 seasons and ended in 2017. Thomas exec produces alongside Julie Pizzi, Steve Ezell and Brad Tiemann. It will air later this year.

Fandango is the latest streamer to move into the reunion specials business; Roku recently launched Laguna Beach: The Reunion.

“As we continue to evolve Fandango’s free, ad-supported streaming service, we want to deliver programming that fans are passionate about, and Bad Girls Club has consistently over-indexed with our viewers,” said Val Boreland, President of Entertainment, Versant. “We’re excited to bring these unforgettable women back into fans’ living rooms and give longtime viewers a front-row seat as they revisit the moments that made the franchise so iconic.”
