KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Schools in three Perak districts and educational institutions across Negeri Sembilan will resume normal operations tomorrow, following reviews of air quality and prevailing conditions.

Perak Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah said schools in Kinta Utara, Kinta Selatan and Kuala Kangsar could reopen after Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at all monitoring stations in the state remained below 150 as of 2pm today, according to a report by national news agency Bernama.

The schools had been closed last Friday after unhealthy air quality was recorded in the affected areas.

Khairudin said conditions had improved compared with the previous two or three days, adding that he hoped the weather would remain favourable for pupils to continue their lessons without disruption.

He also cautioned the public against circulating false information about school closures, saying official announcements would be issued only by the state Education Department.

In Negeri Sembilan, the state Education Department said all educational institutions under its jurisdiction would operate as usual on Monday after reviewing the latest API readings and current conditions.

The department advised schools to keep track of air quality and follow the relevant guidelines to safeguard pupils and staff.

It also recommended that pupils wear face masks as a precaution, particularly those with respiratory symptoms or who fall into high-risk groups.

Both departments said they would continue monitoring the situation and communicate any changes through their official channels.
