If you haven't played The Witcher 3 yet, you may want to change that now that The Witcher 3: Remastered is finally here. The Witcher series has a strong reputation, but this massive open-world RPG iseasy to get sucked into, thanks to the love and care CD Projekt Red poured into the game world.

Plus, the second expansion, Blood & Wine, is one of the most beloved single projects CD Projekt Red has put out to date. It expands the Witcher universe in an incredible way while offering a brand-newplayground to explore that feels tight-knit and deliberate.

If you're looking to get into the remastered edition, here's how to upgrade for every platform.

How To Upgrade Witcher 3 On PC

The PC version of The Witcher 3 is the easiest to upgrade, because multiple platforms do it automatically. If you sign in to Steam, Epic Games Store, or GOG, you will see an upgraded edition already live, and you'll get the two previously released expansions (Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine) for free.

You can also get The Witcher 3: Remastered on Battle.net. The original version isn't available on the platform, so if you buy it here, you'll get the updated version.

Given that Blood & Wine is so expansive and high-quality that it feels like an entirely new game, that's a pretty great deal.

How To Upgrade Witcher 3 On PS5

Once The Witcher 3: Remastered hits, you can pick it up for free if you own The Witcher 3 on PS4 or PS5. You can also buy a used copy on PS4 and upgrade, which is the most frugal option.

The best part about The Witcher 3: Remastered hitting consoles is that both previously released expansions are now free. You can find them here on PSN:

Note that while The Witcher 3 is technically on PS4, you won't get the "Remastered" upgrades on the platform.

How To Upgrade Witcher 3 On Switch 2

Several methods let you upgrade The Witcher 3 on Switch 2. CD Projekt Red has openly provided full instructions for the platform:

"For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt owners looking to upgrade to the Remastered version for Nintendo Switch 2: if you own the game digitally, you can now pre-order the Remastered version for free on Nintendo eShop. If you own a physical copy, don’t worry - you’ll be able to claim the free upgrade when Remastered launches on September 29."

The eShop process is surprisingly straightforward this time around. If you own the game in any capacity, you can upgrade for free.

How To Upgrade Witcher 3 On Xbox Series X/S

The Xbox Series X/S upgrade process is the same as the PS5. Both expansions for The Witcher 3 are already free, and you can pick those up on the Xbox Store now.

Buying a used disc of The Witcher 3 and upgrading it (with the expansions in tow) is a viable option, just like on PS5. Pick up a used copy for as cheap as possible (they're under $10 in many regions), put the disc in, and you'll have the option to upgrade when the Remastered version goes live.
