This screen grab taken from CCTV footage played on a screen during a press conference by the Saudi-led coalition in Riyadh on October 15, 2026, and made available via AFPTV, shows what the coalition says was a Houthi attack on Abha International Airport on October 7, 2026.

MANILA, Philippines — Seven Filipino workers have been wounded in a string of attacks on Saudi Arabia, three of them critically, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Monday, October 19. Manila called on “all parties to cease hostilities.”

The DFA said it was working with the Department of Migrant Workers and Saudi authorities to get medical care and other help to the injured. In a short statement, it offered condolences to the families of those killed, called the attacks “a grave threat to regional peace and stability,” and urged a settlement “through dialogue and diplomacy.”

Yemen’s Houthis have claimed responsibility for missile and drone strikes on Saudi targets, including a missile attack that hit King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

That strike, on October 10, killed 12 people and injured 309, according to Saudi authorities. Reports described it as the deadliest attack in the kingdom in more than a decade.

The Houthis have hit Saudi airports, oil facilities and tankers since a truce in Yemen’s long-running war broke down in July.

The fighting is part of a broader regional conflict that stems from the war that broke out on February 28 when the United States and Israel attacked Iran.

Nearly one million Filipinos live in Saudi Arabia, according to the DFA. More than 2.4 million live across the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia is the third-largest source of remittances from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), behind the United States and Singapore.
