Gonçalo Ramos’ stats fuel fears of Milan’s No. 9 curse

New Milan signing Gonçalo Ramos has not registered a single shot on target in his last three games and, against Benfica, lost possession 16 times.
Pressure mounts on Milan striker Gonçalo Ramos, who has only scored one goal in five appearances across all competitions this season.
The Portugal international was highly criticised by Italian media following a 2-0 home loss to Benfica in the Europa League.
TMW reports that Ramos completed his third consecutive game without a shot on target. Furthermore, he only had four touches inside the Benfica box, fewer than Adrie Rabiot was introduced in the second half, and lost possession 16 times.
Ramos joined Milan from PSG last summer for a reported €75m fee including add-ons.
The Rossoneri have been searching for a top-class centre-forward for years, but more often than not, they have failed to secure a truly valuable reinforcement.
Arguably, over the past 15 years, only Filippo Inzaghi and Olivier Giroud have truly lived up to the expectations attached to Milan’s iconic No. 9 shirt.
The others include Alexandre Pato, Alessandro Matri, Fernando Torres, Mattia Destro, Luiz Adriano, Gianluca Lapadula, André Silva, Gonzalo Higuaín, Krzysztof Piątek, Mario Mandžukić and Niclas Füllkrug.
