QB Murray in good spirits after Vikings debut ends with concussion

EAGAN, Minn. -- The much-anticipated debut of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray came to an abrupt stop Sunday in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers after he suffered a concussion.
Murray, who signed a one-year contract with the Vikings in March after spending seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, was briefly motionless on the field after absorbing a hit from Packers safety Javon Bullard, and having his helmet pulled off by Packers defensive end Lukas Van Ness, at the end of a one-yard scramble.
Vikings players immediately began signaling for medical assistance.
Murray got up after several minutes and walked straight to the Vikings' locker room. The team announced he was being evaluated for a concussion, and he was quickly ruled out.
Veteran Carson Wentz, named the No. 2 quarterback last week, replaced Murray and led the Vikings to their first points of the game, a 38-yard field goal. J.J. McCarthy, the Vikings' primary 2025 starter, is the emergency No. 3 quarterback Sunday and can only play if both Murray and Wentz are unavailable.
