Anjali says 'I started crying' after 'Angadi Theru' shoot

'I continued crying even after the camera stopped'; actress Anjali recalls shooting 'Angadi Theru'.

Actress Anjali has opened up about the emotional toll that certain scenes can take on her during filming. The actress recalled moments when she struggled to step out of a character's emotions even after the director called cut.Anjali has been part of several Tamil films. Her performances in films such as 'Angadi Theru' and 'Engeyum Eppothum' earned much love from the audiences.Speaking to SS Music's YouTube channel, Anjali recalled filming some particularly demanding sequences. She spoke about the physical discomfort involved in shooting the climax of 'Angadi Theru'. She also remembered an unexpected incident while working on a Telugu series.

Anjali recalls staying in character after 'cut'

Anjali said she has experienced situations where a character's emotions continued to affect her after filming ended. According to the actress, some scenes have been difficult to leave behind immediately."There have been several instances where I have remained in the same emotion as the character even after the director called cut. I have had such experiences even while working in Tamil. Take the climax of 'Angadi Theru'.

There is a scene where the hero comes to me and cries after I lose my leg. There is also the scene where the manager assaults her. We actually shot that scene in a government hospital. Most of the people you see in that scene were patients who were there at the hospital. I couldn't eat. I couldn't rest."

Shooting 'Angadi Theru' in a real hospital

The actress explained that the location itself made the shoot more challenging. She said her leg had to remain tied in a bent position for several hours."I couldn't even get down from the bed. The reason was that my leg was tied up in a bent position. It was the scene where I had lost my leg. They made a hole under the bed, placed a green mat there, did the makeup and shot the scenes involving my leg. But I couldn't do anything there because it was a government hospital and an actual location."Anjali said the arrangement continued for most of the day. She recalled being unable to change her position or take a proper break."From morning until evening, my leg was kept tied in that bent position. I wasn't supposed to untie it. It was extremely difficult for me. Even now, I don't know whether the difficulties I was experiencing were what came through in that shot. But that shot went beyond my control."

Anjali says she could not stop crying

The actress revealed that the scene eventually became overwhelming for her. She said she continued crying even after the camera stopped rolling.

"I started crying. Even after the camera stopped, I continued crying. Even when they told me, 'Enough, enough,' I didn't stop."

Anjali recalls an unscripted Telugu series scene

Anjali added that certain scenes can affect actors in ways they may not anticipate."Some scenes affect us like that. I had also done a series in Telugu. There was a scene where someone grabs me. It was a scene where the person grabs me without my permission. The shot ends when I turn around and look at the camera.

But by then, I had already started crying. The camera was rolling. It was never a planned shot."Anjali said the particular moment was not part of the original script. However, the footage was eventually retained in the series. "That scene wasn't in the script. That shot is still there in the series. Even now, I don't know why I cried uncontrollably. We don't know where certain traumas come into our minds."The actor involved in the scene was reportedly concerned after seeing Anjali cry.

She said he approached her and tried to reassure her."But the actor who was working with me came over and said, 'Everything is okay. I didn't do anything to you.' He was scared when he saw me crying."

Anjali says it was not anyone's fault

The actress clarified that she did not blame the director or the actors involved in either experience. She described the incidents as emotional responses that surfaced during the performances."It wasn't the fault of the director or the actors working with me. Certain traumas come through us at that moment. They come out. That's all," Anjali said.Anjali's latest theatrical release is the Tamil fantasy drama 'Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai'. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 1, 2026.
