Tori Spelling, Brian Austin Green Go Vertical in Scripted Microdrama

Translate

Beverly Hills, 90210 stars Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green have reunited in the scripted microdrama world.

Spelling, who played Donna Martin in the original drama, and Green, who appeared as her onscreen love interest, David Silver, are both starring in an untitled original thriller microseries for vertTV, with production wrapping Wednesday in Los Angeles. The first vertical microseries for either of them also features 90210 alum Carol Potter, who played Cindy Walsh, the mom of twins Brenda (Shannen Doherty) and Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley).

There’s no plot details for the thriller as vertTV, the Los Angeles-based microdrama studio launched by Hollywood veterans Jeffrey Schenck, Barry Barnholtz and Peter Sullivan, expands its slate of star-driven ultrashorts. VertTV, launched in July 2026, has done over 200 TV movies for Lifetime and Hallmark in the past and is now betting on bite-sized dramas like Lone Star Hearts, starring Cindy Busby and Josh Henderson, to continue gaining traction with mobile phone audiences.

Other vertTV microdramas include the romance Finding Hope — starring Jodie Sweetin, John Brotherton, and Marla Sokoloff — and Chonda, starring Chonda Pierce and Regan Burns in a vertical fish-out-of-water comedy.

The production of microdramas in North America and elsewhere is booming, while in Hollywood spending on traditional content for linear TV and streaming platforms is in decline. VertTV also launched with a standalone mobile app for iOS and Android devices as a key destination for the studio’s original slate.

Of late, the booming sector of verticals has been inundated with AI-generated titles, with vertTV insisting it shoots vertical series with real actors on real sets and without the use of generative AI.
