Apple TV’s ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Eyes Revamped Season 3 With New Titans & New Writers

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is going for a reboot. Apple TV and Legendary Television are in discussions for a third season that would take the show in a new direction, featuring new Titans from Legendary’s Monsterverse.

Search is underway for new writers and showrunner who will take over from the series’ Season 1 and Season 2 creative team, led by showrunner/executive producer Chris Black who co-created Monarch with Season 1 executive producer Matt Fraction.

The news comes six months after Season 2 wrapped its run on Apple TV May 1.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is executive produced by Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell from Safehouse Pictures. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character. Season 2 was also executive produced by Chris Black, Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Lawrence Trilling, and Andrew Colville.

Legendary, which licensed Monsterverse rights from Toho, has a multi-series deal with Apple TV, which includes Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and its upcoming untitled spinoff centered on Young Lee Shaw, with Wyatt Russell reprising his role as Colonel Lee Shaw. The series is showrun by Harold, who is developing multiple other entries in the franchise alongside producing partner Tunnell via their Safehouse Pictures banner.

In addition to Russell, the offshoot stars Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, Nyasha Hatendi, Connie Nielsen and Stana Katic. Harold, Tunnell and Russell executive produce alongside Andy Goddard, Kyle Bradstreet, Jim Skotchdopole, Max Borenstein, Chris Black, Alex Boden and Toho’s Matsuoka and Arita. JD Dillard serves as director and executive producer.
