Daily Snow Report: the warnings finally stop

Monday, 17 August’s Daily Snow Report brings the clearest sign yet that winter’s grip has properly loosened, with SAWS issuing no impact-based warnings, fire danger warnings or advisories anywhere in the country.
It’s a genuinely quiet day on the weather front, a sharp contrast to the string of Orange and Yellow Level warnings that dominated headlines just a week ago.
REMEMBER | Daily Snow Report: Eastern Cape warning finally eases
Fine and warm conditions settle in across most provinces
Mpumalanga starts with morning frost over the Highveld, otherwise turning fine and cool, but warm in the Lowveld, with morning fog also expected there.
Limpopo stays fine and cool to warm.
The North West sees fine, cool and warm conditions.
The Free State stays fine and cool.
The Northern Cape sees fine, cool to warm weather, with partly cloudy conditions and morning fog patches along the coast.
The coastal provinces close out the week on a high note
The Western Cape starts with cloudy conditions and morning fog over the northwest, otherwise turning partly cloudy and warm, though cooler along the south coast, with late evening drizzle possible over the Peninsula.
The Eastern Cape’s western half sees cloudy, foggy conditions over the interior at first, clearing to fine and cool to warm weather, while the eastern half starts cloudy and foggy in the southwest before turning partly cloudy and warm.
KwaZulu-Natal sees morning fog patches in the east, otherwise fine and cool to warm conditions.
Both the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal carry a “very high” UVB sunburn index today, so it’s worth taking precautions against prolonged sun exposure even with the milder temperatures.
After a week of tracking SAWS warnings, watching an entire day pass with none at all feels like a genuine turning point. I’m slowly starting to look forward to the spring days ahead, hey.
