Law minister urges faster, lawful development in Palu

Kota Palu, Sulawesi Tengah (ANTARA) - Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas has called for faster regional development in Palu while ensuring that policies and development programs comply with the law.

"In pursuing accelerated development, we must not overlook the legal aspects of every policy, work program, and development measure undertaken by the Palu City Government in particular," he said at Palu City's 48th anniversary celebration on Sunday.

He said regional development should be measured not only by physical infrastructure, but also by equitable, human rights-based public services and strong public legal awareness.

"Therefore, all regional legal instruments and strategic policies must comply with the applicable laws and regulations at every stage," he said.

The Ministry of Law is committed to strengthening cooperation with the Palu city government to promote clean, accountable governance and provide optimal legal protection for all citizens.

Supratman said the spirit of moving in action required local officials and stakeholders to go beyond rhetoric and take swift, concrete steps while adhering to legal principles.

"Essentially, the spirit of moving in action must go hand in hand with the principle of the rule of law for the progress of Palu City," he said.

He said cross-sectoral cooperation was crucial to upholding the rule of law in Palu.

"Local governments cannot work alone. Therefore, strong synergy is needed among the executive and legislative branches, law enforcement agencies, the private sector, and the active participation of the public in upholding the rule of law in Palu City," he said.
