Translate

Nigeria’s Flamingos will begin their 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls Championship campaign against arch-rivals Ghana’s Black Maidens on Wednesday, September 16.

The Group B clash is scheduled to take place at the CKB Stadium in Côte d’Ivoire.

The encounter will be a repeat of the 2024 final, when Ghana defeated Nigeria on penalties after the match ended 2-2 in regulation time in the inaugural edition of the competition.

The Flamingos have been drawn in Group B alongside Ghana, Togo and Niger Republic, with the teams battling for a place in the next round.

Hosts Côte d’Ivoire will compete in Group A alongside Burkina Faso and Benin Republic.

The championship will also serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 U-17 Girls Africa Cup of Nations.

The competition is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in Côte d’Ivoire.

For the Flamingos, the tournament offers an important opportunity to fine-tune their squad ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to hold from October 17 to November 7, 2026.
