Rhea Ripley is getting through her injury break with a little help from her dogs, and she posted pictures of them on Instagram to show it. The former Women's Champion paired the photos with a short message, writing “Seeing these smooshy faces every day makes being injured a bit easier…Forever my little sunshine's”. She had surgery for a slight meniscus tear after her title reign ended because of a knee injury this summer. Right now she's recovering, and WrestlePalooza: Australia is being talked about as a possible spot for her comeback.
Rhea Ripley shares a personal look at life with her dogs while recovering from knee surgery
The post itself was simple, but it shows what's been keeping her company during the time off. She and her husband, Buddy Matthews, have been home a lot, and the pets are a big part of that. The couple also adopted another dog recently, named Choppa. No in-ring return date has been confirmed by Ripley, and recovery remains main focus after the surgery.
The injury hit WWE's plans for the Women's Championship too. Ripley got stripped of the title after the knee problem, even though the original plan was to crown an interim champion instead. So her run ended early this summer.
WWE has announced Ripley for pre-show hospitality at WrestlePalooza: Australia. That doesn't confirm she'll wrestle or appear on screen at the event, but her name is on the schedule while she works toward getting back.
Natalya reveals how visiting Rhea Ripley's home turned her into a dog person
Ripley's pets also left an impression on WWE veteran Natalya. Speaking to The West Sport, Natalya said she visited Ripley at home for her 30th birthday and came away looking at dogs different than before.
“I went to her house and her dogs I said to Rhea, ‘I'm a big cat person,' but then after seeing her dogs, all of a sudden I was just like a dog person,” Natalya said.
She described the pets of Ripley and Matthews as very well loved, and compared the care they get to how good parents raise their kids.
“These dogs were the sweetest animals, and I was like, ‘That's because they have parents that love them.' You know when you meet good kids, you know that they have good parents,” Natalya added.
The visit clearly stuck with her, since Natalya said Ripley was turning her into a dog person. Ripley's own update shows how much comfort the dogs are giving her while she's away from the ring.
