MRT train services suspended, fire on track

MRT services were temporarily suspended at all stations due to a fire on the railway line between Tao Poon and Bang Pho stations on Sunday afternoon.

A fire was reported on the overhead electric railway tracks near Tao Poon station in  Bangkok's Bang Sue district about 12.20pm on Pracharat Sai 2 Road, in front of the Chewathai condominium building in Bang Sue district.

Bang Pho Fire and Rescue units were deployed to the scene about 12.32pm. They found an electrical short circuit involving cables on the railway track. Flames were still visible as they worked to bring the situation under control.

Further details, including whether the incident affected train services, were not immediately available.

The BEM later posted the following announcement 

"At present, MRT services have been temporarily suspended at all stations due to a fire along the railway line between Tao Poon and Bang Pho stations.

Staff and relevant agencies are currently rushing to inspect and deal with the situation, with the safety of passengers and staff being given the highest priority.

We fully understand that this incident is affecting the travel plans of many passengers, and BEM is taking every possible measure to resume services as quickly and safely as possible.

We sincerely apologise to all passengers for the inconvenience caused.

Please follow updates from BEM. We will provide updates on the situation and the resumption of services as soon as this has been confirmed.

Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation.

BEM will do its utmost to take care of passengers and provide assistance and convenience."

Updated at 13.13pm by the BEM: 

"Due to some Power supply are disrupted. MRT will be closed at Bang Pho to Kamphaeng Phet Station. Please use MRT Stations nearby Station. Passenger may experience delays of up to 60 mins. We apologize for any inconvenience."
