KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 — Formula 1 fans heading to Sepang this weekend might want to leave a little extra room in the budget, with a plate of nasi lemak and fried egg listed at RM35 on an official vendor menu for the race.

The same menu lists chicken rice at RM30, Indomie with a fried egg at RM30 and a serving of cut fruit at RM20.

For Malaysian racegoers used to finding those dishes at everyday prices, the figures are likely to be almost as eye-catching as the cars on track.

A group of four ordering the RM35 nasi lemak, for example, would spend RM140 before adding drinks or snacks. Four chicken rice meals would come to RM120, while four portions of cut fruit would cost RM80.

The prices are listed on a vendor menu circulated through the event’s official QR ordering link.

Sepang International Circuit is preparing for a packed Formula 1 weekend, with large crowds expected over the three-day event.

The Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia is also being pitched as a broader entertainment experience, with Bahraini food, culture and hospitality forming part of the attractions.

A Bahrain Village is among the features planned alongside the racing.

But for fans with a taste for familiar Malaysian favourites, some of the menu prices may provide their own race-day talking point.

With tickets, transport, merchandise and food all competing for a share of the wallet, spectators planning a full day at the circuit may want to check the menu before making their pit stop for lunch.
