EUROMATCH-NPFL: Abdalla On Cloud 9 After Warri Wolves First Win Of Season

Alhassan Abdalla, Warri Wolves Head Coach, went literally on Cloud 9 after the Seasiders broke their winless run in the 2026/2027 EuroMatch-NPFL Campaign following a 1-0 triumph over Kwara United in a matchday four fixture in Ozoro, Delta State, Completesports.com reports.

Ezekiel Ejike scored for the Seasiders eight minutes from the start to hand the Abdalla side their first maximum point of the season as they now move to 17th on the standings with three (3) points.

An obviously relieved Abdalla did not mince words when he told reporters during the post match press conference that he was happy, having won his first match in the season.

“First and foremost, I’ve to give thanks to Almighty Allah, that we’ve succeeded in beating Kwara United today,” Abdalla responded when asked about his feelings having won a game in the season.

“But I bet you, they are a very difficult side, but we’ve won. We’re happy that we’ve gotten our first three points (so far ) in the season.”

The one time Heartland of Owerri gaffer also responded to questions on the impact the victory will have on the Seasiders going forward in the campaign, saying it will give the confidence, moreso as it has installed winning mentality in the Seasiders leading to the matchday five trip to Niger Tornadoes on Wednesday.

“I’m happy we’ve won today. We now know how victory tastes in the 2026/2027 EuroMatch/NPFL season. By tomorrow (Monday 21 Sept), well travel to Minna for the midweek game against Niger Tornadoes. I think, hopefully, we’re going to pick some points, or a point there.”

Despite the ‘sweet’ victory over Kwara United, Coach Abdalla refused to be carried away as he revealed identifying some technical flaws in the team that needed to be fixed going into the Niger Tornadoes clash.

“But we’ve seen some lapses in the (Warri Wolves) team. We’re going to address that. We’re taking the games one after another. Now that we’ve overcome Kwara United problems, we’re going to focus on, or do I say, face Niger Tornadoes problem.

“I hope we get something there especially now that we’ve winning mentality in the team”, he said before pleading with the supporters of the team to continue supporting them.

“For the fans, in the long run we’ve won. And we scored (here at home). So, I want them to be patient with us. As you can see, we’ve a lot of young players in the team. As the season progresses, we’re going to continue getting better with each game.”
