The last time Dejan Drazic faced Punjab FC, he scored in the second half to help FC Goa salvage a draw in the Indian Super League (ISL) last season. Playing for Mohun Bagan Super Giant, he improved on his record with a winning goal against the Shers at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Saturday.
Bagan was stunned early on when Alfred Moya Planas scored for Punjab in the third minute, attacking from the very beginning. The home side eventually grew into the game, with Lee Erwin restoring parity 15 minutes later with a left-footed shot from the edge of the box.
Erwin then set up Drazic in the box and the Serb kept a calm head to slot it past Arshdeep Singh.
It was Punjab FC’s first loss in the league this season, while Bagan, with the narrow win, climbed to the top of the table, with nine points from four matches.
Bagan will host Odisha FC next, on November 5, while the Shers will go for a long break before returning to the league on November 21 in an away fixture against Chennaiyin FC.
