Davao City Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte, sister of Vice President Sara Duterte, is set to testify in the impeachment trial on Tuesday.

Baste Duterte, the third among four Duterte children of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, earlier said that GenCorp. Industries Inc. won its Davao city contracts worth over P34 million above board, and he was unaware of his sister’s share in GenCorp.

He was elected the Davao City Vice Mayor in the 2022 elections, but he later assumed the Davao City mayoral post after his father, former president Duterte, was arrested by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in March 2025 over alleged crimes against humanity stemming from drug war deaths during his father’s presidency.

Mayor Duterte will testify as a hostile witness for the prosecution on allegations of unexplained wealth against his sister. —VAL, GMA News
