Watch Fuerza Regida Explain to Jennifer Hudson Why the Band Members ‘Want to Be Just Like Her’

Fuerza Regida brought its música mexicana takeover to daytime television on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Thursday (Sept. 24), performing “Por Esos Ojos,” which peaked at No. 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on Hot Latin Songs. Dressed in black, the San Bernardino band had the studio audience — largely young women screaming at full volume — reacting like they were watching pop superstars.

During the conversation with Hudson, frontman Jesús Ortiz Paz (JOP), Khrystian Ramos (six-string guitar), Moisés López (tololoche), José García (tuba) and Samuel Jaimez (lead guitar) discussed the group’s rise from backyard shows to stadiums. JOP said the band’s first U.S. stadium tour reached nine stadiums and more than 350,000 people, with the second leg of its This Is Our Dream Tour set to begin with two sold-out Chicago-area dates.

Describing the band’s live show, JOP, who wore a fuzzy-yet-sleek leather jacket, promised a “time-traveling” experience that moves through different eras. He also pointed to Fuerza Regida’s increasingly diverse audience, noting that fans now come from all across Latin American communities and beyond the Mexican American audience that first supported the group at backyard performances. “Our Mexican genre is going global,” JOP told Hudson.

The group also reflected its bicultural identity by naming artists from across the musical spectrum who have joined them on stage, including 50 Cent, Bobby Shmurda, YG and Bobby Pulido.

The conversation took a playful turn when JOP brought up Hudson’s EGOT status. “We want to be just like you,” he told her, before jokingly asking her to “put me on.”

“We all want to be like you,” several of the other members also chimed in.

Hudson responded by enthusiastically telling them they were “well on their way.”

Fuerza Regida will bring that momentum to Billboard Latin Music Week 2026, where the band will headline a Superstar Q&A and participate in En Vivo programming Oct. 19-22 at Faena Forum in Miami Beach, Fla.
