King Charles is set to jet off to the Caribbean on Tuesday for a royal tour taking in three countries over nine days.

He will begin in the Bahamas before travelling to Guyana and then Antigua and Barbuda, where he will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

The King, who is continuing his cancer treatment, will travel alone until the final leg of the trip, when Queen Camilla and the Prime Minister will join him.

Over the years, royal tours of the Caribbean have seen members of the Royal Family enjoy stays at some of the region’s most magnificent hotels – and this trip is unlikely to be any different.

From luxurious beachfront resorts to historic hotels with royal connections, we take a look inside some of the most impressive properties across the three countries, including several that have welcomed members of the Royal Family themselves.

THE BAHAMAS

The Cove at Atlantis Paradise Island

King Charles is set to head off to the Caribbean this week

First up on your list of starry resorts is The Cove at Atlantis Paradise Island

The Cove at Atlantis Paradise Island was the choice of Prince William and Kate Middleton during the last leg of their Caribbean royal tour in March 2022.

While they opted for the penthouse, the hotel - regardless of which room you select - is perfect for a sunshine-filled break with a five-star feel (and royal seal of approval).

Exclusive amenities are aplenty, including butler service, daybeds and private cabanas, stunning and sensual suites, and outstanding dining options.

British Colonial Nassau

Up next in the Bahamas is British Colonial Nassau

British Colonial Nassau is one of the oldest hotels in the Bahamas, having been built in 1901 and bought in 1932 by a friend of the Duke of Windsor (formerly King Edward VIII).

Located on the Nassau beachfront, it boasts bright, spacious suites, two outdoor seafront pools and a fitness centre.

Adding to its credentials, it was used as a military intelligence hub during the Second World War, and came onto the screen in the 1983 Bond film Never Say Never Again.

Sandals Bahamas Nassau

Sandals Bahamas Nassau is up next

Formerly the Balmoral Club and Sandals Royal Bahamian, this resort was used as a private retreat and base for King Edward VIII and his wife, Wallis Simpson.

The all-inclusive hotel now offers two sky-sized pools, a new lounge area, 12 dining options including two food trucks and an award-winning spa.

You can also opt for new swim-up suites with butler service, and access to two stunning white-sand beaches.

GUYANA

Cara Lodge Hotel

Cara Lodge Hotel has stunning verandas - and two centuries of history

Cara Lodge Hotel, which has stood since 1840, hosted King Charles back when he was a prince, in April 2000.

One of Georgetown’s oldest wooden buildings, it's a stunning hotel rooted in the heart of Guyana’s capital.

'Today, Cara Lodge blends timeless elegance with modern-day comfort,' the hotel professes. 'It’s a place where creaking floorboards meet contemporary convenience, and where the warmth of family-style hospitality makes every guest feel at home.'

Pegasus Hotel Guyana

The next destination is a hotel situated in Georgetown, Guyana, with its colourful colonial architecture and vibrant ambience

Heads of state and British royalty have often opted for a stay at the Pegasus Hotel Guyana - perhaps its most notable guest of all being Queen Elizabeth II.

The standout feature? The hotel's Aura Sky Lounge, which features a 360-degree view of Georgetown and the ocean.

The price is lower than many other options, though, as some reviews have indicated that the hotel is not quite up to its former glory. It has just 3.4 stars on Tripadvisor and 3.8 on Google reviews.

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

Blue Waters Resort & Spa

For the final leg, King Charles is heading to Antigua, where you'll find Blue Waters Resort & Spa

Prince Harry stayed at this luxury resort when touring the Caribbean, according to reports, and with 85 stunning rooms and suites, it's easy to see why.

Palm trees, pools and three secluded beach coves lure in visitors, and the vibe is one of luxury and relaxation.

Four bars and lounges are on site to cater to your every whim, and first-class spa treatments will help you get into the holiday groove.

Carlisle Bay Resort

Rounding out the list is Carlisle Bay Resort

Finally, Queen Camilla's stay at the five-star Carlisle Bay brings it to the royally approved list.

Carlisle Bay Resort reopens this month following extensive renovation.

Expect revamped suites, beachside dining and a plethora of experiences, from watersports to boat excursions, health retreats and private yoga and personal training sessions.
