Palmer, Rice among five players to pull out of England squad for Nations League games

Declan Rice and Cole Palmer are among five players who have pulled out of the England squad for its upcoming Nations League fixtures, the Football Association announced on Monday.

Arsenal’s Rice, Chelsea’s Palmer, Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento are the five players who are out of the Thomas Tuchel’s side due to injury.

“James Garner and Morgan Gibbs-White have subsequently been called up and will join up with the rest of the squad on Tuesday,” the FA said in a statement.

England begins its Nations League campaign against newly crowned world champion Spain at Wembley on Saturday before travelling to Prague to face the Czech Republic on September ‌29.

Tuchel’s side then take on Croatia in ​Rijeka on October 3 before hosting the Czechs at Wembley three ⁠nights later.
